My 96 honda may have a transmission problem?

Has %26lt;70,000 miles. Automatic. 3 months ago when I bought it, it drove great. Took it to a mechanic and he said I had at least 30,000 good miles left w transmission. Then after about a month, it started to jerk a little while changing gears (accel and decel). It has gotten worse and worse. I don't think it's revving too much though. Often when I'm driving down a hill, it actually slows down without me touching the break. When I make a turn at slow speeds, I have started to notice some clicking. I took it to a mechanic and he said I needed to flush transmission and change fluid. 125 bucks later the problem just seems worse - even jerkier shifting at the low speeds. In the last three months I've been to four mechanics, replaced a CV boot, serpentine belts, head cover gasket?, front muffler, and now I'm seriously starting to feel jerked around!? I'm going back to the mechanic. Or should I just go to someone else? Do you know what my problem might be???

Well, unfortunately, about nothing you listed off will fix your transmission. The transmission flush was a stupid thing for the mechanic to suggest, some people who don't really know much will say that a transmission fluid flush is a cure all for tansmission problems, but its not. It is also likely that one of those full fluif flush with the machine that purges fluid through the transmission can kill a transmission if it has not had that done regularly.

My mother drives a Honda, and she had the problem like that, and I'm trying to think, I'm pretty sure it was s shift sensor of some sort in the transmission that was going bad. But, i would suggest taking it to a mechanic, but there are a few guidelines to follow. When looking for a shop, always look for an ASE certification, and verify that all the mechanics working there have an ASE certification displayed. Another thing you want to do is to go to the Better Business Bureau website and shearch for shops in your area that are BBB members. As a member of the BBB, a shop can have no unresolved complaints against them, this will help to make sure you get someone who is more interested in making sure you car is fixed correctly, than they are in making money. I wouold also suggest finding a shop that specializes in transmissions. Hope This helps, Good Luck.
