Putting transmission fluid into the oil can clean out carbon build-up?

My ex tells me that a few days before doing my next oil change, that I can put a quart of transmission fluid into the oil and it will help break up any carbon build-up. He says to only drive it a little bit while it's in there since the oil will be diluted and not protect the engine as well, but to drive it a little before the oil change. Has anyone ever heard of doing this and is it successful? The vehicle in question is my livelihood and I really don't want to ruin it by following what might be ill advise.

It's obvious your ex is trying to screw you over.

NEVER put trannie fluid in your crankcase. There are few things you could do that would harm your engine more. Next he'll be telling you to put sugar in your gas tank.

There are specific engine cleaners that you can buy to put in your crankcase, but those can still cause damage if left in too long.

Keep it simple. Just do regular oil and filter changes. If done at regular intervals wil good quality oil, you won't have problems.

And tell your ex to stay out of your life.

if you want your engine cleaned out let an expert do it,if you break the carbon loose,it can harm your engine.if your oil pump screen gets stopped up from the carbon that broke loose it will burn your engine up.does it really need that,i would say don't do it.i have been a mechanic for 28 years. good luck.
Not a good idea. If this %26quot;carbon%26quot; is in the engine combustion chamber, then next fill up, add about a half tank of premium gas to your regular.

As long as you are not bothered by a %26quot;carbon ping%26quot; on acceleration, don't worry about it.

If you depend on your car for a living as stated, then make periodic trips to the dealer for their recommended service at the proper mileage intervals.

If by chance you are refering to the slimey %26quot;gunk%26quot; in the oil pan, this stuff is not carbon, and your dealer is best to do an oil system flush and almost all auto parts supply stores sell some sort of flushing additives, but I'd still go either the dealer, or a well trusted mechanic for this service, not one of those %26quot;ten minute oil changes%26quot;.
i've never heard of that, i have heard of putting trans fluid into the intake system, they make lots of oil flush that is intended for doing what you want, you can find it any parts store
It is not recommended on a new car there is a product out called rislone oil flush which is better or gunk engine flush if you cant find either put a quart of diesel fuel in and run it for 15 minutes then change oil but i recommend bilstien engine flush at the dealer for 80.to 95.00
DO NOT CONSIDER DOING THIS! You will contaminate the fluids which could lead to costly repairs. Oil and transmission fluid isn't the same formula.
