I JUST PURCHASED A 1964 CHEVY IMPALA THAT HASNT BEEN DRIVEN IN MANY MANY YEARS, THE MAN I BOUGHT IT FROM INFORMED ME THAT IT HAD A LEAKING WHEEL CYLINDER THAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR THE BREAKS TO WORK, I TOWED THE VEHICLE HOME, CHANGED THE CYLINDER, AND THE PEDAL STILL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, I DID FILL THE BREAK FLUID SINCE IT HAD ALL LEAKED OUT, PUMPED THE BREAKS FOR A FEW MINUTES, BUT STILL NO RESISTANCE, NOTICED SOME AIR BUBBLING OUT OF THE BREAK FLUID RESUVOUR BUT, DONT KNOW WHAT TO CHECK NEXT, ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED
Break Pedal Goes All The Way To The Floor..??
i would check for leaks under the car may be a line broken or cracked and if no that then check the vacuum booster to see if the seal is bad and then it still could your master cylinder gone bad hope this helps some
Break Pedal Goes All The Way To The Floor..??
the break system has a large amount of air in the system you need to bleed the break lines of the air in order for it to become stiff again. leave the resivoir top off and pump it for a few minutes to see if it bubbles out enough air to get the brakes normal agian.
i like how everyone else said the same thing i did. hmmmm. wow
well for starters you will need to bleed the brakes and if you get lucky that is all. If the vehicle has been sitting for awhile be prepared to replace the rest of the wheel cylinder and also the master cyl.
The BRAKE system should probably be completely replaced if it hasn't seen any use in %26quot;many many%26quot; years.Did you bleed the brakes after you replaced the wheel cylinder?did you check the other wheel cylinders?could be a bad master cylinder too.The car sounds like it needs restored.
Hey ziggy.its BRAKE system, not break.they teach you that at uti?Until you have turned a wrench in the real world keep you smart *** comments to yourself.
you need to bleed the brake sytem until you get all of the air out of the lines....if thants not it might need a new power brake booster
it leaked the fluid low enuf to get air , replace the wheel cylinder and bleed ALL the air out , it will be fine
The real problem is the dude you bought it from was just guessing what was bad. You need to pull all four wheels and check the brakes properly. Obviously, you have other issues providing you bled it correctly. Another wheel cylinder or more are shot, a line is broke, hose broke, master cylinder bad. I wouldn't worry about the booster, I doubt that even has power brakes.
you need to bleed the brakes. start at the wheel farthest away from the master cylinder first. anytime you break a line or replace anything, you have to bleed the brakes.
